Present Continuous

What are you doing now?  Are you reading a magazine?  Are you watching TV?

We use the Present Continuous to say what you are doing at the moment of speaking.  Example:   I am writing an article for my blog

   PRESENT CONTINUOUS

Write questions
1.- you/wait/for the bus?2.- she/work/ in the hospital?3.- they/ride/their bikes to school?
4.- he /shop/ at the supermarket?
5.- Peter/ drink/ a glass of milk?
6.- Emilly/ study/ French/ at the library?

Present simple

Usamos el present simple para hablar de rutinas y hábitos, de las cosas que hacemos regularmente:  
 Forma afirmativa:     I play football with my friends on Saaturdays   My mum gets up very early
La 3ª persona del singular, normalmente añade una   -s               like-likes      wash- washes
Añadimos -es  a los verbos que acaban en -s, -sh, -ch,-o, -x             watch- watches     go-.goes     kiss-kisses
Si el verbo termina en consonante  +y,   cambiamos  -ies                         cry- cries        study-studies
Si el verbo termina en vocal +y ,   añadimos   -s                                         say-says          play-plays
Forma negativa:    do not =  don’t  + verb          y       does not =  doesn’t + verb            
                                                     I drink tea        I don’t drink tea           He works        He doesn’t work
Forma interrogativa:          Do I /you/we/ they ?        Does he/she?              
Respuestas breves:                     Yes, I /you/we/ they do                         No I/you/we/they don’t    
                                                              Yes he/she/it does       No, he/she/it doesn’t

A Routine

Daniel Cresson  is a Canadian boy. He always gets up at 6.30 on weekdays and he leaves home at 7.15. He lives in the old part of Montreal, near the port. He goes to school by tube (underground) and then he walks. The whole journey is about forty-five minutes.

He finishes school at 2.45. He usually has lunch at the cantin. Then he often stays at school on Monday and Wednesday because he does weight training. On Fridays he plays hockey. He loves sports. After the match, he goes to a restaurant with a school friend and has a salad and some meat or fish.

On Saturdays he is very tired so he sleeps until late. He usually helps his parents in the house. In the evening he often goes to a movie or to a friend’s house. They play games, talk or watch television together. On Sundays he relaxes an he does his homework.
