This is your task for next week:

“We are the students in charge of the school’s magazine (EOI HOY) and would like to recieve articles from the EOI students to see how you have reacted to the decision made by the teachers to get rid of examinations. All the marks you will get will be, from now on, based on continuous assessment and project work. How do you feel about this? We want to hear from you. Is it a good or a bad idea? Send your articles to”

Write your article in 200 words.

Remember to write a good title for your article.

Before you start writing organise your ideas carefully into paragraphs.

Each paragraph should contain a topic sentence.

And, most important: Choose vocabulary and structures that show your (advanced) level.

Remember that there are only three lessons left and our writing workshop will come to an end. Next term the lessons will take place  on Wednesdays from 15:30 to 17:00. The inscription dates will be announced here and on the school boards.

You already know what you have to do for next week: write a formal letter correponding to the “worksheet” you picked up in our lesson.

Remember to send it to me as an attachment in your email since, as you already know, the layout is important in letter writing. A handout with the layout and a few recommendations for formal letters is available in “Downloads”.

Remember that Tuesday 15th December is the deadline for your balanced discussion. There will be no homework today.

Although these days people hardly ever write letters, it is always important to know how to do so. You can download a model of a personal letter from the Downloads page. Next week a model for formal letters will be available.

Ready for a balanced discussion?

Howdy everybody,

I know for sure that most of you are eager to write. Christmas is near and you have to hand in your balanced discussion by 15th December, so this is your next task:

“Spending Christmas with your family is a blessing as well as a curse. Disccuss.”

Although there is a lot to be said, please control yourselves and do not exceed 200 words.

Write a story which ends as follows: “There he was, waiting for me to say something” (200 words aprox.)

Now that you have all the information you need you are ready for your last task.

Remember the title: “Taking part in this workshop has proved a waste of time. Do you agree? Just between 200 -230 words. It’s so easy!
