When communicating via email with our peers it is very common to use emoticons and acronyms. It is impossible to have them all under control because the list is endless and day by day it grows up. If you want to know more, have a look here. It’s amusing and entertaining. And, who knows, perhaps you learn something new!

The workshop will be organised in two semesters. The only requirement to put your name down is to be a student at the EOI. The students involved in the workshop will have to attend lessons once a week. In these lessons we will analyze different types of written texts and then you will have to put into practice what you have learnt in class. The final result will be published here.
The main purpose of the workshop is to enable students to write clear, detailed texts on a variety of subjects related to their field of interest, synthesising and evaluating information and arguments from a number of sources.
Kind of tasks that will be set:
- Descriptions of real or imaginary events and experiences, marking the relationship between ideas in clear connected text, and following established conventions of the genre concerned.
- Essays or reports which develop an argument systematically with appropriate highlighting of significant points and relevant supporting details, evaluating different ideas or solutions to a problem , giving reasons in support of or against a particular point of view and explaining the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
- Personal letters and notes asking for or conveying simple information of immediate relevance, getting across the point they feel to be important.
- Letters conveying degrees of emotion and highlighting the personal significance of events and experiences and commenting on the correspondent’s news and views.
- Letters conveying information and ideas on abstract as well as concrete topics, checking information and asking or explaining problems with reasonable precision.
If you are interested in taking part in the workshop, ask at the Information Desk at school or post a comment in the INFO page.
We’re back!

After last year’s experience we’re starting the Writing Workshop again.
There are some new things as far as the organization is concerned. This year we’re doing two semesters instead of three terms, but they’re longer. This way we can try more kinds of tasks. As last year, there are different inscription periods for each turn.
The first turn starts in November, and the inscription period is from 19th to 29th october.
If you have any doubts, go to INFO and post your question. I’ll answer you as soon as possible.
