Her career began as a fashion model when she was 14. At that time she also appeared in her brother’s student films. However it was in 1993 when her professional career really began, in the film ‘Cyborg 2′, her first leading role.

Her performance features began to improve in the films ‘George Wallace’  and ‘Gia’ for which she won two Golden Globe Awards and was nominated for two Emmys. In those days she worked in ‘Gone in 60 seconds’ with Nicolas Cage and the ‘Bone Collector’ with Denzel Washington as well.

In 1999 she took the part of a sociopathic in ‘Girl, Interrupted’, where she won her third Golden Globe ad her most important award, the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Two years later, in 2001, her global reputation increased with ‘Tomb Raider’, in which she was required to master a British accent and extensive martial arts skills.

‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ (2005) was her biggest comercial success to date. During this film she met Brad Pitt, who became her new boyfriend some months later.

Angelina Jolie was born in Los Angeles, California in 1975. She has six children nowadays, three of her own and the other half adopted (the first one in Cambodia, the second one in Vietnam and the last one in Ethiopia). She gave birth twins recently, in July 2008 in France, but her most popular daugther is Shiloh, who was born in Namibia, where her mother had gone to be far away from the media. Jolie decided to sell the first pictures of Shiloh to ‘People’ and ‘Hello!’. The total rights sale to $10 million, the most expensive celebrity image of all times. The profits were donated to charity. Two months later Shiloh was recreated in wax in Madame Tussauds in New York.

During the 1990s Angelina Jolie had been married to the actor Jonny Lee Miller, her co-star in the film ‘Hackers’. Then in 2000 she divorced him and married to Billy Bob Thornton, but the marriage only went on for three years. Jolie has said in some interviews that she is bisexual and that she had a sexual relationship with Jenny Shimizu, whom she had met during ‘Firefox’ filming. Nowadays she is living with Brad Pitt. During the filming of ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ she was accused of being the main cause of the divorce of Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt, whom she had met some months before the film.

Jolie is also a fan of tattoos. Currently, she has 13 known tattoos about her children, her former husbands and some life proverbs.

While filming ‘Tomb Raider’ in poverty Cambodia she became aware of international troubles and humanitarian crisis, so she eventually turned to the United Nations for some information. In the following months she visited some refugee camps and donated $1 million to Afgan refugees. The U.N. named her Goodwill Ambassor in August 2001. Over the las few years she became more involved promoting humanitarian causes at the political level, meeting congressmen and senators. She has founded two organizations to help children all over the world, and has donated important amounts to NGO’s like Global Action for children and Doctors Without Borders.

Over the last few years, Jolie’s life has been promoted over magazines and papers more because of her outrageous life and her humanitarian efforts rather than her life as an actress. However, her beauty and personality has given her a lot of roles in recent films.
