It’s a thriller in which Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster work together.
The plot deals with a CIA’s case. They were searching Buffalo Bill, who was a teenager’s killer.

To catch him, they need Clarice Starling’s (Jodie Foster) servise, she was a brilliant student of psicotic attitudes. She visited the high security jail, in which Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) was jailed. He was an old killer who had an excellence intelegence.

There, Clarice had to get information about Buffalo Bill’s behaviour; but Hannibal started to feel atracted for Clarice, so he began playing with her. Bringing her little information as if it were a play.

I think it isn’t a spooky film, but it’s one of the films that really scared me. I watched it at night and after the film had finished, I turn on all my house’s lights.

It won five Oscar awards, the main ones, that are best film, director, actor, actress and thriller.

I liked very much the way that Anthony Hopkins plays his character.

Landon Carter remembers his year at Beaufort High and Jamie Sullivan, the girl who changed his life.Jamie was the last person Landon was likely to fall for. She was as far from cool as she could possibly be, and didn’t care. The daughter of the town’s Baptist minister, Jamie was not afraid of letting people know that her faith was the most important part of her life, even if it cost her some friends. Landon is a boy who had no plans, no future and no faith in himself. One night a prank that he and his buddies set up goes terribly wrong and lands a kid in the hospital. As punishment, Landon must tutor a young student at a poor school and participate in the Drama Club’s Spring play two activities the principal hopes will teach him some humility. They also happen to throw him into close contact with Jamie. Finally, Landon is forced to ask her for help. Against his own expectations, Landon finds himself falling in love with this girl who possesses a passion for life he never imagined possible. But it isn’t easy. Jamie does everything she can to run away from romance until it becomes impossible to deny. Most of all, it will test the power of love and faith to transform a life into something worth living.

It has been the most romantic film I´ve ever seen and I recommend it.

The title of one of my favourite films is Nightmare before Christmas, and it is based on drawings and a poem by Tim Burton.

The story takes place in Halloween Town during Christmas. My favourite scene is when Jack Skellington, the main character, visits Christmas Town, where he discovers that there is something else apart from Halloween. He also realises that something has to change his life, and finally he decides to celebrate Christmas instead of Halloween.

In my opinion it is one of the best films of Tim Burton. It has a great soundtrack, with a lot of songs that are very funny. The places are also excellent, they have a lot of details, and we should know that it is a film from 1993, so they did not have the same material as now.

I would recommend this film as an interesting and funny film for those who love cartoons and horror films. I think it is a different kind of film, with skeletons instead of kings and rag dolls instead of princesses. It is the dark part of Christmas.

Amelie by Águeda Díaz

Is imagination a good solution to a difficult life? You can create your own world where everything is like you wanted to be. But… How long can you live outside the real life? Would it cause problems? The film Amelie seems to defend the opposite belief. Amelie is an 22-years-old woman who has a huge imagination. Se has learnt to enjoy simple pleasures, such as skipping stones across the water or putting her hand in a sack full of peas. Her life changes on the same day that Princess Diana dies. Socked by her death, by a chance she finds a box in her toilet which contains toys and other heirlooms hidden by a child who lived in her apartment years ago. She resolves herself to find that man and to give the box to him. If he is moved, she will spend her life making people happy. So he starts to do good things in the lives of others, secretly. She forgets her own happiness, until she meets an eccentric guy who collects photos of strangers from passport photo booths. Then she’ll start a funny game to give his lost album back to him, until he gets the chance of approaching her. But she is afraid of real life and feelings…In my opinion, it is a highly recommendable film. It’s different from the typical romantic comedies which are usually on the publicity board. It is a extremely absorbing. The atmosphere gets you to live the world in the same way Amelie does. And that’s quite funny. On balance, it is an original fim which offers a different point of viewing a romantic history, with a touch of humor. Dive in the fantastic world of Amelie!

I found amazing the film “Full Monty”. It isn’t a new film but I think the main subject isn’t old-fashioned.It’s about a group of unemployed who live in a suburb of an industrial city of
England. I’ not sure about the precise location of the movie, maybe the action is located in
Coventry.
They haven’t got any job, any money, any hope and the most important they can’t expect anything from life after they’ve lost their jobs.In fact, the film shows us a dramatic situation but it lets us se it as a funny story. They need money so they decide to win it with a Full Monty. For this, they prepare a show for women although most of them are over forty years old.Everybody thinks that they can’t do it but finally they achieve to trust themselves and win a lot of money.I recommended the film because it’s very funny but it’s able to attack your mind. It makes you think about the employment problem and its consequences in the whole family.

The last film I watched in the cinema was “The Orphanage”, a Spanish film produced by Guillermo del Toro, who won an Oscar prize for “El Laberinto del Fauno” last year. “The Orphanage” was filmed in some place on the coast of Asturias and all the actors are Spanish. I think it’s a mixture of a trhiller and a horror film that gets you caught till the end.

The film shows the story of a family that moves into an old big house that used to be a children’s house in the past. Laura, one of the main characters and Simon’s mother, had lived there when she was a child with other orphan children but, fortunately, a family adopted her and she could leave that horrible place. What she doesn’t know is that the rest of her friends were murdered by one of their teachers and now their spirits live there. Little Simon gets in touch with the spirits and plays with them, but when he tells his parents about it, they don’t believe him. Once, Simon is playing with the spirits when he shut himself in one of the rooms. His parents can’t find him and a desperate search starts. Eventually, after a lot of strange events, the spirits show Laura the way to find her son, but it’s too late. Simon has died and her mother couldn’t do anything for him, so she takes a lot of pills and kills herself in order to be with her beloved son.

The scene I found the most amazing in the film was the one in which Laura is in the village looking for Simon when she meets the teacher who killed her friends. This woman is pushing a pram and Laura thinks Simon is inside it, so she shouts at her. When the woman is turning round to look at Laura, she is run over by an ambulance and she dies. It’s a very surprising scene because it happens extremely fast and you don’t expect that.

From my point of view, “The Orphanage” is is a worth-watching film that captures your attention from the beginning to the end. I think it’s a film that you have to watch a second time if you really want to understand all the story properly, because there are a lot of details that maybe you will ignore the first time you watch it and, in my opinion, without those details the story doesn’t make sense. Besides, the best thing in the film for me is the fact that you never guess what is going to happen. I think it’s because of the sound effects: when the music makes you think that something is going to happen, nothing goes on, but suddenly, when there’s no music and you are quiet, an amazing thing happens and you get petrified.

To sum up, I believe that “The Orphanage” is highly recommendable for those who enjoy thrillers and supernatural happenings. However, if you are afraid of that kind of things, you probably shouldn’t watch the film because it makes you think about them and maybe you will have nightmares about some of the characters that night!

Last friday we went to the cinema, we hadn’t gone since many years ago, at least four years ago. we decided to watch “The orphanage”. It could be said it’s a thriller, but it plays more with suggestion than with showing violence and blood.
A woman returns to an orphanage where she grew up, with the intention of opening it again as a home for children with disabilities. Together with her husband and adopted son, she tries to make the old building ready to receive it’s first new residents, but she starts to feel sinister presences from the past.
I’m a bit tired of horror and suspense films, but this is a great one that i recommend you.
If you haven’t watched it, you should, you’ll shout.
Belen Rueda is a completely credible character and the place where the story has been shot helps to make it realistic. The rest of actors are good and Geraldine Chaplin’s scene (who plays the part of a medium) is one of the most creepy i’ve never seen.
I think, the best thing about this film is the big sense of motherhood.
When i arrived home after the film, i felt the need for an embrance to my daughters.
I enjoyed this film, it made me jump, it’s fun and it has a good and unexpected ending, you cant’t imagine the end until you see it.
Of course i cried a lot. The best film i’ve seen in ages.

I’m talking about Apocalypto. Despite the fac that I know Mel Gibson’s films have too much blood, I decided to see the film because the plot is about Mayan culture. I went to Mexico in my honeymoon and this culture really impressed me. Their knowledge about time and the planets, their buildings, everyting is amazing. The film starts with an important sentence: “Any civilization can be conquered from outside, before it destroys itself from inside”. If you think about that, and study  the big civilizations you realize that this sentence is a big truth. The members of a community have an idyllic existence, they live in the jungle, the men hunt animals, the women cook and look after the children. They have everything they need, they don’t miss anything. They have the knowledge of old people, they know what to do in every situation, they have been living like their ancestors for generations, things have not changed. But not all people are living like them, there are cities where people need more things; for example they need slaves to build pyramids to their Gods, they need to kill people to calm their Gods. The main character is a man who has a son and a pregnant wife when the invaders arrive at his village. If he had known that his lifestyle was in risk, he would have moved to a safer place inside the jungle. But it was too late, Spanish invaders arrived to his country and his culture disappeared. I really recommend this film to understand our life.

300 by Juan Díaz

The movie I’m talking about is 300, by Zack Sneyder. The story is based on a Frank Miller’s comic, and it’s about an epic batlle for Greece’s freedom.

I watched this movie in the cinema, just one day after it came out, because I had a friend who really wanted to watch it. I didn’t think 300 was going to be such a great movie by the time I got into the cinema, but the fact is that, since then, I have watched it more than five times.

You never get tired of this movie. It contains battle scenes I could see once and again, and the actors play their roles so perfectly that you really enjoy it.

The music also helps. Actually, I think the music is one of the most important parts of 300, that’s why I have dowloaded bought the soundtrack. During the battles, strong electronic music is played. Tis is strange, I mean, it’s not common for a medieval movie to have electronic music. But it makes the spectator “motivated”, so he feels he is actually battleing. But, in the sad or difficult moments for the main character, the music turns slow, which produces a feeling of sadness.

The director plays with a lot of elements, such as the weather, the scenery, the music… This makes you feel like you are living the movie instead of watching it.

I would definitely recommend this movie. It has received a lot of criticism: people say that the facts it tells are impossible to have happened. I think 300 is based on real facts, but it is not an historic movie. It adapts the reality so that it looks attractive, but it doesn’t lie, as so many people say.

So, if you watch it, don’t try to find historical mistakes: just sit and enjoy it.

Directed by Night M. Shyamalan, starring Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson. The Protégé is a terrific thrilling film which tells the story of a man, Bruce Willis, who has suffered a terrible train accident where all the passengers died except him. He´s the only survivor and surprinsingly he hasn´t had any hurt.

Samuel L. Jackson, the other main character, suffers a quite strange illness that makes his bones really breakable. That´s the reason why everybody call him Mr. Glass.

Being so weak makes him think that maybe it exists someone in the world who´s the opposite of him.

What he really wants is to find that person to meet him, and to show him what he thinks is the truth of their lives.

That´s a really good way of showing people a human superhero, not the kind of heros that always appear in comics or books. It´s a worthwatching film and I highly recommend it to everyone who loves thrillers.
