Título: Pride and Prejudice

Autor: Jane Austen

Editorial: Longman

Obra adaptada: SI

Nivel: Intermedio

Reseña: It is the love story of two couples. The girls, Jane and Elizabeth, are sisters and they live with their family comfortably although they are not very rich. The boys, Mr Bingley and Mr Darcy, are close friends, and both of them belong to the upper class. Bingley is a gentleman and Darcy belongs to the nobility.
The two couples fall in love, but the social differences, the pride, and the prejudice make the success of their love difficult.

With the intention of getting to know the future of the human race, he travelled to the year 802,701.
He expected to find a better world with a developed society. Instead, he found a primitive world where two opposite races lived. One of these lived at the surface and its population danced and sang and wore flowers. And the other one lived in the dark depth or earth.
On this enviroment, the scientist lived a lot of exciting adventures.

Editorial: Contemporary Books

Obra adaptada: SI

Reseña: A lot of Native-American artifacts have been turning up on the market. It is suspected that a new Indian cliff dwelling has been discovered and is being looted. Rob Harding is working undercover as a ranch hand in order to identify the culprits. But what seemed to be an easy job begins to get complicated because of strange incidents…
This book is ideal to familiarize yourself with a lot of new vocabulary, expressions and phrasal verbs. Though it is not a book you can read leisurely without using a dictionary. Anyway, once you have started reading this mystery novel you won’t be able to put it down.

Reseña: This is a thriller about a guy who had stolen diamonds. He was found guilty of stealing and he was sentenced to twenty years in prison. There, he had a good behavior and he met the Scarperers, a powerful group of criminals who arranged escapes for long-term prisoners.
I would recommend this book because it is very interesting, exciting and it has quite an emotive ending. When you’re half way through the book you get surprised because the plot changes entirely. I found it difficult to understand, because there were a lot of phrasal verbs that I didn’t know.

Reseña: This is the story of two different families. The Doones were the owners of Doone Valley and the Ridds were the owners of a farm. Both were always fighting because the Doones stole from the farmers and from travellers on the roads and anyone who stood up against them was killed.
One day Carver Doone killed Ridds’s father and John Ridd would kill the man who had killed his father. Later he fell in love with Lorna Doone.
I didn’t like the book very much because they were always fighting and it was a bit boring.
