Hi, this is Mark posting a blog for the first time.
If you want, I could write in English, ich koennte auf deutsch schrieben, o poderia escribir en español. Hell, if ye waant, a cud even write in the local Glesgae dialect, ken?
Anyway, I´m having a really good time here so far. Meeting lots of people, have been lucky enough to see a fair bit of Astutias. I can get my favourite German beers from Carrefour, and my digs are cheap as.
I´ll post another blog soon about my initial thoughts and experiences in Spain, as well about the thanksgiving presentation I have to do.
Above I have attached a video from Edinburgh on December 31st. A pipe band is walking up to the castle just before midnight. It´s a massive festival, full of tradition.
Today is Sunday. It´s raining cats and dogs and is a good day to stay home. On the coast the wind blows strongly and the sea is angry.
Yesterday afternoon, I posted on the bilingual blog and inserted a song by Simon and Garfunkel. Tomorrow morning, at eleven o’clock, we will meet with Mark to talk in, and improve our, English.
Someone told me a while ago that learning make us free, when we learn and try to speak other languages we become yet more free.
Every Tuesday at 11.05 the bilingual group in our Hostelería y Turismo School (Catering and Tourism School), has an hour-meeting to share the work done during the previous week, and comment and exchange ideas and proposals that might be interesting to implement in the programme.
A few weeks ago we agreed to publish this Blog as a means of communication and interaction amongst students and teachers. We will be adding contents, improving its different sections and encouraging students’ participation.
We will welcome suggestions and ideas from our students.
Hello. Today is Wednesday and we are having a very good weather in Gijon. Our students of Tourism and Marketing Information are visiting western Asturias.
In the afternoon we will celebrate with Mark his arrival in Gijón and at our school.

TRAVEL TO LONDON
“VIAJE DE INMERSIÓN LINGÜÍSTICA A LONDRES”
Alumnos de los Ciclos Superiores de Alojamientos y de Restauración, acompañados de dos profesores, visitaron la capital británica del 3 al 8 de junio.
Nos ofrecen una simpática descripción de esta interesante actividad en el ámbito del Programa Bilingüe de nuestra escuela.
Accomodation and catering students, accompanied by two teachers, visited the UK capital from 3 to 8 June. We offer a nice description of this interesting activity within our school bilingual program. Enjoy it!
“Easy Jet nos llevó volando de Asturias a Stanted. Desde allí en bus al hotel. Después de instalarnos, el primer “tute”: andando hasta Harrods y vuelta por Hyde Park. ¡Menudo aperitivo! Los profes hablando al grupo ¡en inglés!
Al día siguiente… visita a un hotel de la cadena Sol Meliá en Londres: el hotel muy bien; nos enseñaron todas sus instalaciones. El trato espectacular y, muy buena práctica para nuestro idioma. La comida en un típico pub inglés: bueno, bonito y barato ¡para que luego digan que en Londres se come mal y caro!
En la Oficina de Turismo de España…charla sobre las actividades que desarrollan en el Reino Unido - el más importante de nuestros mercados turísticos emisores- La charla corrió a cargo de un antiguo alumno de Hostelería en Santo Domingo de la Calzada. Llegó a Londres hace 15 años a trabajar como camarero, hasta hoy que tiene tres reputados restaurantes en la capital británica: charla muy motivadora.
Tercer día…Nuevo madrugón: visita a la National Gallery londinense: ¡impresionante! Más tarde visita a un hotel de la cadena NH. La planta baja auténticamente monumental. El trato y la acogida excelente, y degustación de un típico “sandwich lunch” inglés en este hotel. Después, a Picadilly; Leiscester Square, Chinatown… Las fuerzas empiezan a fallar (van dos días de mucha “tralla”).
Cuarto día…Los alumnos hablan en inglés entre ellos –que maravilla eso de la “inmersión”- Mañana de turisteo; por la tarde visitamos un hotel de la cadena Sheraton ¡Menudo lujo! La visita, también estupenda, también en inglés. En este hotel disfrutamos un típico “afternoon tea” que servía casi de merienda-cena. ¡Vaya con el “tea”! Después, como era viernes, muchos nos dedicamos a visitar ciertos lugares de “culto” en el centro de la ciudad: pubs de rancio abolengo, claro.
Quinto día…Sábado relajado. Excursión panorámica en bus por el centro de Londres acompañados de un guía argentino que nos habló en inglés “of course”. Visita a Camden Town –pedazo mercado donde casi todos nos gastamos bastantes “pounds” . Tarde de sábado y domingo libres. Aquí mejor no entramos, ejem, ejem…
Sexto día…Vuelta pa casina, felices, contentos, con ganas de volver a Londres, con más soltura en inglés, ¡pero hechos polvo! “See you soon”. By
