Dunmore East Revisited

From 8 to 12 October, I was really fortunate to go back to Ireland after 15 years of absence. Let me elaborate a bit. This beautiful island is a very special place for me. I went there for the first time when I was just 19. By then, I had been learning English since 6th grade and my head was stuffed with lots of grammar, vocabulary, phonetics, you name it. But what I totally lacked was real practice in an English speaking country, and thanks to a series of circumstances I ended up travelling to Ireland (by train and boat for two days!!! I had to save money) in the summer of 86′.

 Last Tuesday 30th October, we did a listening comprehension exercise during our lesson. It was a recording on the life of Mary Shelley, the author of what is considered to be the first science fiction novel, Frankenstein.

If you couldn’t come to school last Tuesday, you can do the exercise over here. First, download the following pdf document, which contains the text you have to complete mary_shelley.pdf

Once you have done that, listen to the recording below and do the exercise. You can give it to me at school or you can just copy and paste the text onto a Word document and then email it to me.
