This year we have been extremely fortunate to get a very special language and culture assistant from the US. Her name is Alison Brick and she comes from Syracuse, New York. It is a blessing for all of us teachers and students at EOI Luarca to enjoy the presence and wholehearted collaboration of a native speaker who truly enhances our lessons with her presentations and speaking activities.
A few weeks ago, I told Alison that it might be a good idea to interview her some time and then post the resulting videos on this blog so that our students could practise their listening comprehension skills. As helpful as ever, she accepted my proposal, so now you can watch a short clip of our first recording session.
Go to ACTIVITY to access a multiple choice quiz or just play the video below.

Hi Javier.
It is a pity because the video don’t work, so that I couldn’t hear Alison speaking. See you if you could arranged it.
Bye
Jacaranda
Hi, jacaranda,
Believe me, the video works just fine. As a matter of fact, it works both on the blog and on the quiz. My guess is that you need to install a newer version of flash player, which you can get here
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&Lang=Spanish
If you still have trouble with the video, please let me know next time you see me at school and I’ll show you what might be wrong with your computer.
Take care,
Javier.
Javier,
I have just viewed your videos of the Carnival celebration and of my daughter, Alison. I really enjoyed them both.It was great to see a little of what she experiences daily and of course to see and hear her.
Also, I want to thank you for being such a kind friend to Alison. I hope to meet you one day in my country or in yours.
Dear Francine,
Thank you so much for your kind comments. It is all of us teachers and students alike at EOI Luarca who are really fortunate and grateful for having Alison with us. She has become a true asset for our school.
I hope your husband and you can make it to Spain in the future, as my family and I would be delighted to meet you.
Friendly yours,
Javier Menendez.
