Blog for advanced English students at EOI Luarca

Oscar Grimm, co-founder of Freshtopia.net, passed away on October 1st.
He was only 34 years old. I never got the chance to meet him personally, but two years ago, while I was surfing the Net for cool blogs on cooking and healthy diets I came across his most interesting site. Both Oscar and Tanja, host of the shows they created together, were so nice and kind when I contacted them to let them know I had decided to use some of their videos with my English students at Luarca. I sent them a few pictures of exercises I had done and they reciprocated by doing a show on their very own raw-food version of paella.

It is things like this which make you believe in communication technology. You publish something on the worldwide web and you might touch somebody else’s life thousands of miles away, like Oscar did with his vlog*

If you had never heard about Freshtopia.net before reading this post, I am sure you will enjoy it if you visit their site. Even if you are not a vegan, or you believe that eating raw food is just crazy, I bet you will find something interesting. At least, you will be practising your English with their lively and informative videos.

You can now watch a behind-the-scenes video on Freshtopia.net made for ryanishungry.com and the paella show in which they mentioned our class.

*Note for my students: ‘vlog’ is not a typo; it means a video blog.
