American flap T

Posted by fcojavim under Advanced students

JenniferESL is one of the links I recommend on my blog because she offers great explanations about American English. She can help you understand a variety of the language you are learning which is spoken by over 300 million people and which we are all exposed to on movies, the Internet, and so on.

On the following video she gives an interesting and useful lesson on the differences betwen true T and flap T. If you like the video, it would be nice and thoughtful to leave a comment on her site. By the way, Jennifer also offers mp3 podcasts on this site OhMyNews.

edinburgh-castle.jpgIf you didn’t attend today’s class (26/02/09), you missed a listening comprehension exercise I’m going to correct for next week. It’s about a video on Edinburgh Castle from The Travel Channel. Go here to access the activity or click on the picture. Print out the pdf document you’ll see on that link, do the exercise and hand it in next time you show up at school. Good luck!

Mardi Gras

Posted by fcojavim under Advanced students

Carnival time is here and we should all celebrate it  in style. Here’s a National Geographic video on Mardi Gras, the worldwide famous celebration which takes place next February 24th in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. You have a listening comprehension activity about this video here. Print out the pdf document that has the questions and hand it in to me this week.
