Why do we need leisure activities?

Have you ever considered the question anyway?

It is believed that stress is a major cause for heart disease and contributes to feeling unhealthy and unhappy. Stress is thought to have increased other illnesses and it is produced by many factors, such as worries, overwork and lack of exercise or relaxation.

Moreover, it is said by psychologists and doctors that everybody should take part in daily physical exercises, so that they can relax. For example, a weekend away or taking part in sports activities is considered very important for everyone´s health. It is also suggested that going for a walk, seeing a movie or reading a book are also activities which may help someone relax and to delay illness.

What is more, if you are suffering from high level of stress or wish to wind down after a busy day or week it is generally advisable to have a change of activity and scene. Although there are many people watching TV, as it is the most common leisure activity, for other people it might be a cause of suffering exhaustion and severe depression because it does not encourage them to do physical, intellectual or social activities.

Consequently, what we should do to be healthier and happier is to be keen on doing creative an relaxing activities because they also support your personal balance and you may feel very pleased with yourself.

A good and positive message could be: ”all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy and Jill a dull girl”, which may mean that people can benefit from keeping active, whatever their background and social status.
