Motion: “Eurovision - Will we win this year or will we not?”
Motion presented by Rocío Álvarez
I am absolutely sure, that you all have heard about the Chiki-Chiki song, haven’t you? Yes, it’s the song that will represent us in the Eurovision festival this year. As you know, it all happened as a joke from Buenafuente’s program to TVE. However, it is not how it happened what matters; the thing is that at the end it won and now our country “depends” on it to win, and in some way, let me say, to save our face.
From my point of view, we could not have chosen a worse song! Simply IMPOSIBLE!!!! It’s great, I must admit it, as a parody for a program like Buenafuente’s, but for God’s Sake, it’s not for entering in a festival! Its music is just a copy from the Reggeaton we heard some years ago, and the lyrics…let’s not analyze them! The video I’ve enclosed, is the new version; the one that has some words in English!!, I suppose they have included that part to make us understandable…but seriously, I would have preferred it if the rest of the European countries didn’t know what the song goes about, because otherwise…what a shame!!!! Apart from that, remembering Rosa’s Europe’s living a celebration…I cannot find words to describe our success with English in Europe ;
Do not think, however, that it’s only Spain the country that will raise everybody’s attention this year, because Ireland has also an “interesting” proposal. A song sung by a turkey!, yes you’ve read ok, by a turkey and you can check it in the second video I’ve enclosed.
So, here you have my questions! Do you think Eurovision will end up being a parody festival more than a musical one, as it started? What is your opinion about the song? Do you think we’ll be the champions with the Chiki-chiki? Can the English part of our song, make us winners?
Send your comments.

Hi, In my opinion there are only two possibly results: the first is that we win Eurovision, because the song is very popular in internet, also in other countries; and the other possibly result is that we get the last position without any point.
I’m praying for the viewers of Eurovision understand all the jokes and as a result Europeans like it, because if they don’t, Spain will seem like a country of idiots that are always doing silly things.
On the other hand I’m not too worried because if you know the candidates from other countries, this year are all of them pathetic, a marionette of a turkey, a singer that in the middle of the show gives up a hen, a grandfather that makes rap…. I think all countries are competing to be the last ones.
To sum up what I think is we must give up going to Eurovision because in last decade the songs have been so horrible that they have been the same of the whole country.
If you had the opportunity to see the last festival, you would be aware of the winners were the most ridiculous and unfashionable singers. So, I think our song has a lot of possibilities to win. I don´t like the song but it makes me smile. I´d prefer the lyrics in Spanish but you know, we are Europeans and English is the language most people knows. So, Spain, 12 points.
We haven’t won Eurovision since 1969, even triying it hard, creating programs like OT in order to choose a good singer and a good song, and we failed. So if we can’t win at least let’s have fun. I’m only interested in see if we can beat Dustin the Turkey, the guy from Ireland. And yes I’m optimistic, we can win.
Rhythmic and a bit ironic but obviously it is not the right song for representing a country in this European Festival. Not only because the music but for the lyric as well. But as I have watched recently on TV it is not going to be un exception. A great number of countries are going to take part on this festival with parodies like our Spanish version. Maybe the organisation decided that it is time to change the proposal of the festival. Could be that the performance is taking advantage in order of the quality of the musicians and their voices.
I’ve never thougnt of Eurovision seriously, and I don’t really mind who wins or if a particular capable turkey is going to beat some specially non-gifted guy (at least for music), but… Do you really think OT was designed in order to get a good artist to Eurovision? Or was it a new reality show looking for money? Surely there are hundreds of artists, just in this province, enough skilled to win.
During several years we have tried to imitate other countries and now I think that we have the opportunity of being imitated. I don’t like the ‘Chiki-chiki’ song specially but the worse we do, the better we get. So, I’ll support Spain in the next festival.
We’ll see what’s going next.
This is a comment I’ve been wanting to do. A few days ago, while I was dancing the “chiki chiki”, I realized that there are a lot of wonderful stupid-songs waiting for us out there! I’ll give you a couple of good examples:
- Replacements – “Beer for Breakfast”
- Dayglo Abortions - “I like stupid songs”
This list can be enlarged as much as you want (Has any of you any other suggestion?) but note that, in general, stupid-songs run less than 3 minutes. Apparently, stupidity is something short (with Governments and the American film industry being important exceptions…)
By the way, if a country (us) has supported a song like the Chiki chiki is because we have a lot of interest in our own stupidity! And after all, Eurovision is, nowadays, just a circus… So, go on, Chiki chiki! We trust in you!
From my point of view, it’s not the fact that this song is the National Shame. In fact it was supported by lots of people in a festival one Saturday night. I mean, we cannot say that’s ridiculous or unfair; we have chosen it. We should think what the previous years’ results have been. Far from being a prestigious contest, it’s obvious that Eurovision isn’t now what it was some years ago. Nowadays the more exccentric , odd and weird the better. The chiki-chiki? We’ve touch the deepest because we deserve it. How is the musical stage currently? Let’s think a bit in depth and we’ll find that this is the consequence of everything. Apart from that, I’m quite sure that Spain will fill one of the best places in this years’ edition.
I´ve watched this videoclip today, but I have to admit that I had heard about it. My firsts words were: it must be a joke! It is difficult for me believe that it´s going to take part in Eurovision! I think it´s a ridiculous song and it is far to be a serious candidate. In my opinion it can´t win! and of course, it makes me think about the meaning of the festival and its level, too.
In my opinion, this is one of the worst song that could represent Spain in Eurovision. It is not serious at all. The idea of that kind of acts is looking for the best song of Europe and if this song will win the contest it has to be a joke. That silly kind of song are one of the reasons why I am not going to watch the contest.
I´m absolutely sure that May 2008 will be a date that we don´t forget in the Eurovision´s history.
“Spain won the festival,Rodolfo was acclaimed by the Europeans”,this is my view of the headlines of the newspaper the day after the show.
Eurovison has come in a Friki Festival and the only thing we can do in order to win is adapt to new winds.
First of all I was disguised with the decision but after seeing the contestants of 2007 I changed my mind. So,good lucky Rodolfo!!!
I`m really convinced that Spain will won Eurovision or at least finish between the first five countries. I know that our representant is not the suitable, but this European Festival has became in the last twenty years in something like a musical parody in which never won the best singer or group because it is highly influenced by the politics. If you want to won, it´s essential having very good relations with your neighbour countries, so in my opinion Rodolfo Chikilicuatre it is the Spanish singer that has more possibilities to win this type of shows.
Paddy said that last year the winners werr the most unfashionable and ridiculous ones. Why? Serbia won, and Servia’s song was beatiful and, avove all, seriois. Yu must mean Ukrain, who were the 2nd. Ukrain’s song was… well, it’ll be better if I don’t describe it…
The Eurovision Song Contest’s point is showing each countrie’s culture and try to learn something from the others. And now eurovision is wrecking becouse a lot of coutries (including us) just send loads of CLOWNS, which sould be… in the CIRCUS.I’ve seen Eurovision since I was born, and for me, the chiki chiki is absolutely OFFENSIVE and REPULSIVE !!!
When I heard about this song I couldn’t believe it. I am sure that we are going to make the most ridiculous in the world. In that kind of things, sometimes I feel quite ashamed to be Spanish. How we do want to be considered a cultural modern country if we choose that kind of singers to represent us in a contest as Eurovision? If we never won with quite good singers as David Civera or Serafín Zubiri, it is IMPOSSIBLE to win this year. Talking about the language, if we want to represent our country we must to sing in Spanish, it is our pride and we need to show to the rest of the world our own culture. But if we choose to sing in English, the singer has to speak it perfectly, if not the rest of the English countries burst into laugh listening to us.
I think that Eurovision has led to a rubbish contest, if they are able to admit that kind of contestants. Nowadays they don’t take care about the lyrics or the music, the thing is to have a “show” guided by the appearance and the clothing. We can’t forget that this contest is based on politics, so if we don’t have too many friends, winning is quite difficult.
As Victor has said in the first comment of this topic, this song is very popular in Internet, a real phenomenon, also in other countries, and it is listening all around the world, so I think that it’s a good piece of news! Maybe you have forgotten “The Macarena”, by “Los del río”. That was a stupid song, but in fact it has done more for the Spanish language than the “Cervantes Institute”, hahaha!
The key fact is, on my opinion: what is that festival right now? Some years ago, it was “serious”. You could like the music played on it or not, but there was no place for bizarre parodies, and if some parodic or strange song reached to be selected for the festival, it didn’t get voted.
Another aspect is whether Eurovision is an European contest or an English songs contest. Linguistic and cultural diversity is on risk of getting lose. It’s true that in the 70’s, 80,’s and maybe in the 90’s I could have never imagined Ruslana from Ukraine or Elena Paparizou from Greece winning the contest, or a hard rock group as Lordi (what I enjoyed that!!!), but a singer virtual turkey is too much!!!
I thing Macarena and Los del Rio have only impulsed the idea of Spain as a country of ‘charanga y pandereta’ , as it’s normally said. For goodnes’ sake! They haven’t helped at all…
(well, they might have, if you think that the song represents our culture. well, they might have, if you thing that’s OK that the world say this :
Spain = paela, siesta, fiesta, flamenco
For me, it’s insulting !
Critical is right: eurovision is based on politics… and we don’t have too many friends hahahaha !!! Not even our neighbours!!!
And of course, speaking bad english is not fun in the rest of the world, i’t ridiculous!
But one thing… David Civera or Serafin Zubiri are good singers????? Oh oh… whta’s this smell? Oh yes, it’s MUSTY
isn’t it??
Please, we should try to be a bit serious, shouldn’t we?
The first time I’ve heard talking about this song was in the college. One of my classmates was reading the newspaper and suddenly, she asked me if this could be serious.
And we agreed at the same time: “NO”.
This cuold be an example of parody (our country’s parody, so influenced by another musics, our political internal division,… and many other things).
I haven’heard the full song and I’ve seen its video today for the firsst time .
Definetely, it’s impossible to win Eurovision. (But in fact it is a freaky show, Who knows?)
I don´t think we will win Eurovision this year because Eurovision is no more a musical contest is based on politics as Palot said and appart from the ridiculous we are going to do, here is my question:who is going to vote us?We are “alone´´because East countries for example, vote between them.
Blue Apple is not necessary that you make fun of the Critical’s opinion, you don’t need to use words as MUSTY, it is offensive. Be careful.
Appart from that is that the Chiki-Chiki song is an offence for all Spanish people that don’t take part on this kind of ridiculous TV shows. I’m sure that Chiki-chiki singer is not going to obtain points, he is going to return home without anything.
It’s a pitty that Spanish people are going to be known by this stupid song, Spain has a lot of different and interesting things to be well-known in the rest of the world.
So, the point now is about what Eurovision has become. What it is suposed to be? Probably from the beggining it tried to be something more, but it didn’t last for very long. What I find is tha nowadays it is a nonsense. Nobody could really see any difference from this to reality shows. The question I make myself: If “we” win, will WE win something? Does it make any difference?
Here we are! I remember those days in which Eurovision contest was a contest where the revelation national singers from one country sang there in order to show their music abroad. Nowadays it is a contest in which “the whole country” have to win. It has nothing to do with showing your music but with politics.
So, I agree with Scaramouche. WE don’t have to win, our artist are those who have to show that we have good music and artists in our country. And .. I don’t think Chikilicuatre is a musical artist, but a comedian. Eurovision has nothing to do with comedy…
Yesterday I went out with my friends,we entered in a pub and there it was: the Chiki chiki.I told my friends about what we were dicussing here and they agreed with me,Eurovision should be put off!!!Please! Why people voted him?It was only a joke of Buenafuente.
I think it is not the best song, but it has gotten that everybody talks about it and I am sure most of you will be in front of TV watching Eurovision this year.
Do you remember ¨Asereje´? I think the Chiki-chiki will be the next hit. A catchy song with a ridiculous dance that people will dance around the world.
I am agree with Palop, this year Spain will be between the first five countries!
Maybe we will be between the first five countries but not because of the good song or the singer it will be because all Europe will be laughing at us.It´s a pity!
I’m sorry if I’ve offended someone with my comments, Teddy Bear, but I was just joking, I mean, talking about Chiki Chiki involves joking ! Doesn’t it?
The only thing we can do is make fun of everything and wait for the contest to be broadcasted. I’m already biting my nails!
I think eurovision hasn,t any interest nowadays and the quality of their songs is minimal therefore the chiki-chiki is similar to other songs or only a bit worse .It ,s only a joke and I am not worried about the opinion of the rest of Europe in this case.
I totally agree with Victor, the first comment. We can only get two positions the first or the last one , there is no average in this contest. As other people have said there are more countries that present ridiculous contestant. Eurovision is not one of my favourites programs and I only see the votes so I hope that Spain win although I don´t like this “song´´. I put the quotes because I don´t consider the Chiki-chiki as a real song.
I think that Eurovision is interesting even nowadays, I’ll see the contest as every year ( and you can say that I am freaking out),but my votes will go to Andorra in case they pass to the final because I think that, as far as this contest is seen as a representation of our culture, which is not the real purpose…, we are going to be ridiculous in front of Andorra’s song “Cassanova” or even other countries. Next time, we should choose better.. Eurovision should be taken with more consideration..
Eurovision should be closed for ever! Some years ago, it was an important music festival, but now? I agree with some of the speakers that now it’s not a music festival, it’s only a freaky festival! I find it quite offensive to good musicians. I always hate Eurovision’s songs, but this years…the singer is over the top!and the worst thing, is that I have no doubt that the song will success, if not in the festival, we will listen it all the summer…
Who really cares who wins the Eurovision Song Contest? I didn’t vote for Chiki and I’m sure I’m not going to watch it on the television.
The question here must be: should these kind of contests be banned? And my 12 point vote will be for YES. Reasons? They are not funny or interesting and the voting system is fake, where peple really vote for their favourite country, not the best song.
Furthermore, I imagine that this is a money spinner for the record and television companies and I don’t want to be involved in that game.
So, you can bet that on the day of the song contest I will be reading a book or sleeping, not wasting my time.
For me this topic is more to give our opinion than to make a debate because it’s pretty sure than we won’t win, but if we’re going to loose again let’s loose having fun. That’s the perfect song for that.
I think it’s going to be the first time I watch Eurovision, and just to see that guy singing Chiki-chiki, although I liked more the original lyrics, not the English ones. See you later, alligator.
Well, Nerd, your point of view is very interesting. Yes, the viotation is a completely fake! The neighbours vote each other… but this doesn’t happen in Spain, not even Portugal od France give us a point! This is a bit ridiculous…
But still, I enjoy Eurovision, and I would like it to be more serious and show the different cultures of the European coutries.
If I could, I would give Eurovision a new image, a change.
Wouldn’t you?
I’ve read more or less all the comments and the impression they gave me was that people is not very enthusiastic about the song at all. So if we are representing a general feeling of the town’s voice, why does this man go to Eurovision?. Come on, let’s be realistic and sincere. Here, we take lots of things as a joke and everything is funny, whatever it is. Deceiving a whole country with a joke from a famous TV programme is something “to be proud of” isn’t it?.It proves that we can’t trust in lots of people who have employments that imply some responsibility. Nowadays, in our modern plural society, being a “friki” is something cool. Well, I don’t want to continue talking about this because nothing can be done now. We should think carefully about what this character and song represents. We may realise that this is not something encouraging
The first time I heard the Chiki-chiki song I just laughted my head off.It is important to understand that it’s a joke. Some people feel Chikilicuatre is offensive, even unrespectful, but the fact is that most of Spanish teenagers love a kind of music called ‘reguetòn’ (which is just rubbish) and this song is a trick.Buenafuente is always very critical and he wanted to write a song in order to make people understand that Eurovision’s level is so low that a clown could beat them all.He also wanted to make people face facts:the real music teenagers listen in our country is rubbish (lyrics are often offensive, even sexist and music is simple and repetitive.)
I hope Rodolfo Chikilicuatre wins Eurovision,it would be a great laugh. We shouldn’t be afraid because of opponents as Ireland is going to send a duck…
I do not understand some of my classmates opinion. The only thing that the public who has voted Rodolfo Chikilicuatre is to do the same as a lot of other countries in Europe. Eurovision is not a music contest in which the best song win, the winner will be the one who has the most catchy song and the most espectacular performance. It is very probable that Spain loses this contest again, but this year we will have at least a good time so I wish Rodolfo good luck.
I don’t thing Buenafuente has reflexionated so deeply about the meaning of Chiki Chiki. Saying that this ’song’ is a metaphora… is to say so much!
I agree with blue apple and The nerd when they say that people don’t vote the song, they vote the country. I don’t understand it very much because it is supposed to be a festival in which is chosen the best, or the nicest or whatever SONG of Europe. I used to see it until I discovered it was a completely fraud. You only have to see who the winner was last year!! But after all, is our country and our song, aren’t they? So good luck, we support you Rodolfo!!
I don´t agree with Maroto because I think that he/she is so pessimistic. We have to trust in our contestant, because with this type of attitudes we won´t get our goal which is to win. So in my opinion we all have to be in the same boat and we have to support Rodolfo even if you do not agree with that song.
Well…trust in our contestant?well…I don´t think of `Rodolfo´as a contestant and support him…why?I´d support a SINGER with a SONG…
I call Rodolfo a contestant because I don´t think that he is a singer but Eurovision is a huge spectacle and now it is celebrated because people want to have a good time.
If I want to have a good time I listen to real music and Eurovision is based on politics not on having a good time.
Hahahaha, sp_18 rules! I’d also support a SINGER with a SONG, and not a clown with a silly mini-guitar!
Europe has many million of population and a lot of people like this contest.
And what do you want to say with that?Is that a reason to do an enormous ridiculous?
Times are changing! When I was a child Eurovision song contest was a very serious thing and the whole family sat and suffered in front of the television supporting Spanish song but now is very different. Are you really worried about the results?. In my opinion this year’s song, which is stupid, of course, has the same or more possibilities to win that the serious song played by Rosa a few years ago.
Why is people taking this so seriously? I’m sure than most of the people who is complaining weren’t interested in Eurovision before. For sp_18 and Blue apple, I’d say that maybe you don’t support him, because you don’t think of him as a singer, but he was chosen because most of spanish people did suport him, maybe not as a singer, but as a witty comedian
I agree with those who think that Eurovision has changed. However, in my opinion it’s not a shame but a different point of view (or a different way of understand the show).
It started being a serious music festival but, for one reason or another, people started to prefer “different” contestants. I mean those who sounded or looked like less traditional or conventional. So nowadays it’s a kind of fun festival (or like somebody said a freak festival).
Only now are we realizing what’s going on with Eurovision. And, from my point of view that’s the reason why this year we have chosen a contestant like that instead of the classical or conventional ones.
I agree that nowadays Eurovision has become a freaky festival, the singer’s voice or the song are not so important as the performance. The more you attract attention, the more likely you are to win. In this sense Spanish candidate is perfect to win the fesival!!!
In some of the many comments in this motion I’ve read that no matters what happens in Eurovision. The fact that Chikilicuatre wins the festival does not make us winners as we don’t get anything. This was quite a shocking thing for me, it’s true that we don’t get anything; however if the national team won the European cup (don’t think that may be possible, but..) I’m sure that many of the people that said that Eurovision does not give us anything would be jumping and laughing…they will not get anything more than the great happiness of seeing that what they were supporting has won. (the same feeling that the supporters of Real Madrid will experience as soon as their team wins the Liga).
I don’t think the Chiki chiki is a good song, but I don’t find myself offended by it. We have chosen it, and now it’s going to represent us…it’s nonsense to be criticizing it; now it’s done! The only thing to say now: Good luck chikilicuatre!!!
Having read each single comment, most of them criticise the song and the “singer”. I don’t even like the song and I also think that it’s ridiculous. However, the fact is that everybody knows it and sings it. Does anyone remember the former contestant? I don’t. What is more, this motion is the one where the people have taken part most, so from my point of view, it has to mean something … or is like in reality shows? Nobody sees them but actually, everybody knows about them…
I haven’t go out for some months but I’m pretty sure that, if I came in a pub, I won’t dance or laugh a cause of this song.
Thirty years before we weren’t considered part of Europe. It seems that nowadays people isn’t borried about it’s image and believes we can laugh our heads off. It doesn’t matter what we’re laughing about.
I understand the irony’s role in our culture and humour’s too but, in fact, there are lots of problems and we prefer to talk about that and not about serious things.
Well, I agree with Chiquilla. In my opinion the ‘Chiki chiki’ is not a good song but we have chosen it.
We live in a democratic state. Sometimes you win, and other times you lose. We should support chikilicuatre in this competition between countries and politics as some of you have said before.
I agree with Popi. Nobody likes this song or its singer, but everybody knows it and dances it. I could see this the other night in a pub.
I start to think that it´s better a freaky song as candidate. I´m in favour of good songs, but I have to say that it seems not important. Who knows? maybe, a song like this is the best way if we want to win Eurovision.
In fact, the problem is that we have chosen this song, so we have to “support” it. The only thing we can do now is to pray.
It´s impossible to make European viewers see that we can take things seriously. Their opinion about us is always about “having fun”, “party”, “living at night”, and now they will thing they were right.
I know we have voted for this song; I also know that Eurovision is not a “great contest” any longer, but we could have done better.
Anyway, Buenafuente and his team thought of a funny joke and now they must be laughing at all of us
We’ve voted for Chiquilicuatre so it has been democratic.
Personally,I didn’t send any sms and I didn’t vote for him on the internet but loads of people have done it and now they are complaining. You can’t throw a stone and hide your hand…
I think Spanish people aren’t the only ones who like Chiki-chiki. I know some Germans who came here not so far ago and they loved the song. They were always singing it, so maybe this year we have more chances to win (or at least not to be very bad). We’ll see.
I wanted to ask a question for those who support Chiki chiki song:have you seen the advertisment on channel 6 with Rodolfo´s t-shirt and sticks and those things?Don´t you think it is just a circus?
Actually, Eurovision is the circus, not Rodolfo or the song. This festival has become worse year after another. So, if it’s a circus we should take part with the best clown, don’t you think so? Those who have seen Chikilicuatre should know that he’s a great clown.
Not only Eurovision is going to be a circus this year, but also all the TV programs are becoming a great fair where the contestants are the clowns and for any reason, we don’t stop watching them. Besides, all the European TVs are happy right now because of the high audience rating they are going to gain.
I agree with you Maroto, Chikilicuatre is a great clown, not a singer so he shouldn’t go to a music festival.
Countries like Spain, France, England, the countries that started Eurovision in fact, complain because eastern countries vote among them, but in my opinion it’s because western countries don’t take seriously the contest they have participated many times, and they choose horrible songs to represent their countries. On the other hand eastern countries that have participated since few years, send their most succesful singers to try to win. In my opinion that’s the difference.
After reading your comments I realise that most of us, more or less, think the same: the contest is old-fashioned, the singer is a freak and the song has no artictis quality.
But now, I hace to admit that, after watching my 5-year-old daughter singing and dancing Chiki’s song (she has learnt the song at school) the matter is starting to atract me.
Furthermore, I’ve noticed that not only my daughter but teenagers in general love the song a lot.
So, forgetting all the controversy, I’ve started to learn it and I won’t stop singing and dancing to the song this summer with my daugther.
Thank you Chiki for the hilarious moments I’ve had these few days.
It´s said that Massiel won Eurovision because some votes had been bought. It´d mean that this festival would not have never been taken seriouly. If it´s true, I´ll support Chiki-Chiki because his marvellous song will be the last thing that the jury will take into account. So, I say again: Spain, twelve points.
I don’t really understand what is happening with this controversial festival this year. I have talked with some people about it and nobody likes ‘The chikilicuatre’, but he was chosen by lots of people that voted him in a TV programme. Where are these people now? You can’t do one thing and say another one…
I think that the chiki-chiki song is not such a bad song for the Eurovision contest as a lot of people say. I have to admit that the first time that I listened this song I didn’t like it, but now that I’ve listened it lots of times I think that is not a bad song. Well it’s not the kind of music that I usually hear when I’m in my bedroom but at least it’s a funny and really catchy song, and the evidence of this is that most people in Spain know the lyrics of this song, or at least the chorus. Furthermore I’ve listened some songs of the other candidates and they weren’t good songs and moreover were not funny at all.
Spain has sent to Eurovion serious singers in previous years but they didn’t suceed, so maybe this year with a point of humour we will have more luck.
As Dream’s said, where are those who voted for chikilicuatre..??? Are they so embarrassed that they cannot tell us who they are????. We live in a democratic society where everybody is supposed to have their own way of thinking, and the right to be respected for those ideas…so please don’t be shy and tell us who you are, just to know, when we get no points for the chiki-chiki, who we do have to blame.
On the other hand, I would like you to know that I’m absolutely shocked by the great success of that song. Nowadays we can also see it in the ONCE’s advertisement. I just cannot understand how on earth can such an stupid song be the greatest song for this summer!!!. UNBELIVABLE!!!
I totally agree with Dream because I know a lot of people that criticize Chickilicuatre and I am very sure that they vote this “song´´ on the TV programme. And as Indie says the Chiki-chiki is not a very normal song it is like a hard renovation of some music styles like reggaeton or rap. This year is in my opinion the ideal year to won this festival and to topics change. So my last comment is to encourage Chikilicuatre in this music festival.
I think that it`s obivous that the chiki-chiki it´s a very bad song in general but in particular in the context of the Eurovision contest it´s not as bad as a lot of peolpe have said. In my opinion it´s a perfect song for this contest in which it doesn´t win the best song or the best singer, the winner will be the one who have the most espectacular performance and the most catchy song. I want to wish Rodolfo good luck from this blog.
As you all probably know, there have appeared on television two controversial facts connected with this motion: on the one hand Chikilicuatre has starred an advert about the lottery and this fact makes me think in the huge success of the song despite my negative opinion about it. On the second hand, it has been prove that Massiel didn’t really win the eurovision festival…it was because of political treats
The thing is, how do you consider this music contest in Spain?, and the most important question, do we really like this song, or is only because we think that the contest is rubbish so we decided to send them rubbish too?.Because, all right, I agree with many of you who think that this song is still worse than some other summer’s songs but all of us had the chance to choose between many other options, firstly on the net, and finally on TV. In fact, I saw the election show on TV and it was absolutely depressing. At the end of the program, only two songs remained and, when the Chiki-Chiki finally won, the other singer who performed a better song and was a better singer too, was absolutely annoyed. It was a great opportunity for her to become famous for her voice, not for the lyrics of the song or its performance as it happened with the Chiki-Chiki. We have the power to choose between a song contest of freaks or singers, that’s the real problem.
This debate is much controversy and people usually think that they have the best opinion. While I was reading this debate I have realized that there is no solution and we can only do one thing which is seeing the contest. We can think in lots of things about this topic but the only true and real thing is that Chikilicuatre is our contestant so that we can only support him to win.
I bet you don’t know anyone left (certainly not woth more than 8 years) that still finds Eurovision serious and with a good musical quality.
Eurovision has been a politic contest since it started more than forty years ago so it doesn´t matter who is our contestant.
Mr.Excusas has all the reason, nowadays it doesn’t matter who the contestant is, the important thing is the political relationship the country has with the other ones.
I’m sorry but I have to say that I can’t see so much difference between this song and others (mostly summer´s songs) that everybody sing and dance in pubs, discos, festivals…it’s not very far from Ketchup´s song, or even more last year´s “te vi hasé un corral”. In my opinion the point here is not the quality of the song but the kind of festival in what Eurovision has become.
I agree with nanin, the chiki-chiki is a song like the Ketchup`s song so I can`t understand the reason of this controversy. I also agree with Mr.Excusas and Dream, this contest has been a politic contest and I think it will be the same for lots of years and in my opinion it should have a change to add more interest to this important contest of “music”.
