Delicious Breakfast

Time to get up, another long day ahead. Thankfully I set my alarm clock 15 minutes ahead of my usual time and today I am under less pressure.
Today I am going to start my new “Healthy Breakfast” project. No rush, good food, nice music on the radio and the table nicely set.
Gone are the days of hassle, pressure and a quick drink of milk from the carton.

Some of my students in second year Bach. wrote about their breakfast. We are starting the school year talking and reading about food and we think breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

“A daily healthy breakfast is the base of a healthy life and a balanced diet. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and so to eat a healthy meal is essential.

I recommend that to have a healthy breakfast it is important to eat fruit and cereals because they are full of carbohydrates, water, vitamins, minerals and fibre; milk which has proteins, calcium and vitamins; and other products like ham, honey, jam…The most important thing is to do it every day because if someone skips breakfast he is sure to get hungry and his capacity to memorise, create and express will be affected.

Definitely, to get accustomed to this in your life improves your health and you will easily get fit.”

“Breakfast is one of the highlights of the day in which we must take particular care in what we eat. We should not forget it is one of the most important meals of the day. We should eat food when we get up, it is a good way to activate our metabolism and make it work better throughout the day.

Normally, the tendency is to eat pastries and sweets but this is not advisable. Breakfast should be a balanced meal and must have many different foodstuffs because we have to give our body what it needs to start working.

We get vitamins and minerals from the fruit that we eat in juice or in natural form.

Carbohydrates may be in the form of bread or cereals.

Milk gives us proteins and minerals like calcium, milk can be taken as cheese or yoghurt.

We can also get protein from eggs which we can eat in an omelette or scrambled.

With these simple steps we can have a natural and healthy breakfast every day.

“My favourite place to have breakfast would be in a small terrace in the mountain with a lot of trees around so I could see them covered with snow in winter and without their leaves in autumn. The house would be on its own with no one around. I would hear the singing of the birds and the sound of the nearby river.

The breakfast table would have a white table cloth, a jar with lavender in the middle and full of food. Of course, there would be a glass with orange juice, another with water and another with hot milk, which is what I usually have. It would have a jar with chocolate and a tray with fruit: watermelon, kiwi and pear. The toast would be on a black plate and the butter and oil next to it. All the plates, bowls, cups and cutlery would be white except for the toast plate. The juice and  the water  would be served in glasses. The napkins and the chair cushions would be lavender.

This breakfast would be more perfect if I were with a special person as everything around you is relaxing and quiet.

A perfect breakfast in a nice place with the right person….this would be wonderful!

“My ideal breakfast would take place on a sunny summer’s day in a small cottage by the sea, surrounded by a beautiful landscape and listening to the sound of the sea. I would have a glass of milk with honey and biscuits, orange juice and some pieces of fruit such as an apple, some strawberries, a peach and a banana. All this would be wonderful if I were with the girl of my dreams; a gorgeous and interesting girl.

Before having breakfast I would go swimming in the sea for a few minutes to work up my appetite.

It is very important to have a healthy breakfast to start the day with energy.
