Once more, we have to wave goodbye to another Halloween party  in which we had a great time. There were some new activities, like the MAKE UP competition with Erika, our language assistant, or the RIDDLES one by the 1º Bachillerato students (they even wore costumes to help the other students guess the answers!)

As usual , there were prizes for the best Halloween recipes. There were some amazingly creepy ideas!! The prizes were for:

Manuel Ángel Martínez (3ºB)

Deva Cervera (2ºA)

We played some typical games … some students were really involved!!

Students also prepared some posters about Halloween characters, legends and gastronomy. You can see them in the multi-purpose room.

You can see  the PHOTOS in the school webpage  http://institutoselgas.es/index.php?lang=es

This week our language assistant, Marian , is leaving , so we organized a farewell show.

Bilingual students from 2nd , 3rd and 4th year prepared different performances to share with their mates in the Bilingual programme. Students from 1st year also worked in their classes (they prepared presentations about Australia) and some of them attended the show.

There were three different sections:

Yes, we did it!

The visit to Arnao mine was terrific: no one lost, no one injured or sad, no rain, low tide (almost), plenty of fossils…
Our guides offered us  a very interesting explanation…although the mine stank Enfadado because of the sulphur, and it was dark, cold and wet, but what did you expect? It is an undergroud and undersea pit where men and children got coal in the harshest conditions!!!

The old school with its stone maps on the backyard ground was very touching. You could imagine the kids there pointing the rivers!!

Have a look to the mine Facebook account to see the photos and click a like.

Thank you all and on monday… back to work and to check the activitiesGuiño

 2.     Children’s rights young activist MALALA YOUSAFZAI,   shot on school bus in 2012 by a Taliban gunman, has won the 2014 Nobel peace prize. She fights for  children’s rights to  education.
