COMENIUS: YOUNG EUROPEAN MINI-COMPANIES
In the academic years 2010-11 and 2011-12, Selgas Secondary School will coordinate a European project with the title ‘Young European mini-companies’. This project is made of a Comenius multilateral school partnership in which we are going to work with three European schools: ‘Hofstad Lyceum’ from The Hague (Netherlands), ‘Roskilde Handelsskole’ from Roskilde (Denmark) and ‘Woodbridge School’ from Suffolk (United Kingdom).
The project, coordinated by Oliva García Cordero, head of the Economics Department of Selgas Secondary School, aims to provide students and teachers from the schools involved a better understanding of the different ways in which entrepreneurial culture and business studies are taught in various socioeconomic environments throughout Europe.
In the current school year, the project will focus on the design, setting up and running of a mini-company in the four schools involved. Each school will share information about its experience with the rest, so that all the participants can see how the various types of company function in different microcosms. They will also learn how the socioeconomic background of the area can be understood and used.
English will be the language in which the pupils communicate and the exchanges will include e-mails, web-conferences, mini-companies websites and visits to other schools.
