In the school year 2008-09 our school is involved in an innovative project based on sharing lessons through webconferencing with the Hofstad Lyceum from The Hague, Holland.
During the second term, the students from 4th ESO and 1st Bachiller (16-17 years old) have shared lessons through webconferencing with Dutch students. The lessons, in English, dealt with current topics such as racism, migration and gender.
Our students have taken part in this project in their English lessons while the Dutch students did it in Social sciences and global issues lessons. Within this project, the pupils have shared a virtual class-room in which they have learnt, interacted and done their own presentations. Students and teachers have become familiar with the use of webconferencing, have appreciated the interactive possibilities of sharing lessons and have experienced the enormous potential this tool may have in the development of European projects, oriented not only to enhance the command of foreign languages but also to promote a European dimension of education.
In this project, promoted by the Regional Education Authorities, our school has had the support of the Teacher Training Centre of Avilés, of the Asturian Education Department of Innovation and Technology and of our partner school, the Hofstad Lyceum.
Duration: 2008-09
