SUMMER IS HERE TO STAY!!!! (AT LAST ;) )

23 June 2010

Yes, yes, yes!!! Summer’s here to stay and we’re on holiday!!

Isn’t it great???

We’ve worked hard this year, haven’t we? Do you remember everything?

We slogged our guts out for Halloween,

and then again for Christmas!

We did a superb job on St. Valantine’s

and some of us worked hard on Black History Month!

We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day,

and we learned so much about the States and Oregon!

But that was not all! We had some theatre (”Going underground”, remember?),

we dressed up for Carnival…

we went on a fabulous trip to Paris and London,

and then a spectacular one to Margate!!!

We visited Gijón’s Aquarium and the Railway Museum,

and we saw a fabulous film at the Cinema’s Festival (”Jimmy & Lulu”, quite a laugh, wasn’t it?).

And of course we had Collin, our cool language assistant,

who was with us in all this, and even more! How lucky we’ve been!! Smile Smile

So we’ve worked a lot, but now, at last, we’re on holiday!!

Some of us are going to Great Britain, to continue improving their excellent English

- Flabio, Marcos, María, Nereida,…- Have a great time, all of you!!

Some are going to the beach,

others are going to another city for some time,

others are staying home, just resting and relaxing…

Enjoy a great summer, whatever you’re doing!!! See you back in September!!

Collin´s Farewell Party

10 June 2010

We celebrated a party on Friday, May 28th,

because Collin Bonsey  , our cool language assistant, was leaving us.

He left us to go to his country, the USA, for his summer holidays.

He promised to come back to pay a visit to us and he will!!!

We wish him all the best.

He will never be forgotten.

We learnt a lot of things from him; thanks to him, now, we know a bit more about his country, his hobbies and  DISC GOLF.

Browse through these videos to believe what I am telling you

He showed us the basic rules for the game and the three different ways to throw the disc.

Have a look at the photos by clicking on the logo

On the day of the party we did a lot of things.

He even brought his father, JIM, and his friend, JESSE,  for us to meet.

We drank coke and we had lots of crisps, nuts and cookies.

(it was all yummy)

We also listened to some music.

BORJA, from 2º ESO B, played the bagpipes:

And not only did he play the bagpipes but also the accordion .

MARCOS, from 2º Flex, also came to pay tribute to Collin by singing “ASTURIAS PATRIA QUERIDA”.

Guess what we did as well? DANCE AND SING, YES , YES, WE DID IT…

And we did well and had a great time, didn´t we?

IT WAS A DAY TO REMEMBER!

He was also given lots of presents to take home. Lucky him!

And a lovely LETTER written in English, to his surprise, as a token of our gratitude.

Click on the BALLONS if you want to see some of the photos taken on that day

Good bye COLLIN! We will all miss you a lot!

THANK YOU FOR THE MOMENTS WE SHARED!!!

…AND WE’VE BEEN TO MARGATE!!!

28 May 2010
We love travelling so much that we can’t stop doing it! And this time, it was the youngest of our Secondary School, the students of 1st. and 2nd. ESO!!

We’ve spent a marvelous week in Margate (Kent), staying with cozy English families and learning a lot about Britain and British way of life! And of course we practiced a lot of English!!

Do you know where Margate is? We didn’t know before going, but we do now!!

Margate is a quiet and peaceful village on the south east coast of England. It’s in the county of Kent, also known as “The Garden of England”. It’s a really beautiful place to be!!

But we didn’t just stay in Margate! We went to many other places, for example, LONDON

We saw lots of things in London: The Tower of London, Covent Garden,

the London Eye,the Houses of Parliament, The Change of the Guard, …

We did a river tour on The Thames, we went shopping in Piccadilly, in Oxford Street,… We saw dinosaurs in the Natural History Museum…

We even went to a musical, The Lion King, which was spectacular!!! Surprised

        We did enjoy it!!

We also spent a great day in CANTERBURY, visiting The Cathedral, listening to some tales in The Canterbury Tales Museum, and doing another river tour with some gorgeous rowers!!! Wink

We visited LEEDS CASTLE (which, by the way, is not in Leeds),

and we went to MAIDSTONE, another nice village where we did our last river tour (and our last shopping, also Money mouthMoney mouth!).

And some of us discovered our ability practicing bowling!

It was good fun!!

It was a great trip and we just can’t wait to repeat it!! Smile Smile

We took trillions of photos!! CLICK on the one below to see a selection of them!

And, as usual, we filmed a lot of videos!! Here’s a brief sample; enjoy them! ;)

GOING UNDERGROUND

1 May 2010

We had this show performed at our Secondary School on Monday, April 12th, and …

WHAT A SHOWCool!!!

Didn´t we all enjoy it???

Do you remember what it was about?:

The London Underground is the oldest and one of the biggest in the world. The history and culture of Britain’s capital city are inextricably linked with its famous Underground. A train journey through its stations is a journey through time and the chance to savour all that London has to offer.

Apart from 273 Underground stations in use there are more than 40 “Ghost Stations”; closed to the public and to trains. In times of Economic Crisis and population growth there are plans to convert some of these stations into underground car parks.

Bob is an eccentric teacher with a passion for the history of London. Today she is taking her students to Down Street Station so they can see it in its original state before the works begin to demolish it. When they arrive at the station, they find Harry, (whose great-great grandfather built the station), living there.

The attempts to convince the authorities not to go ahead with the demolition will take us all on a comical, musical and educational journey through London and its history.

Together, we will try and save the station and Harry’s home.

And remember what William Shakespeare once said:

“The world´s a stage and every man must play his part”

By the way, does this picture ring a bell to you?  I hope so!!!

Now, have a look at these pictures, by clicking ON THIS CAMERA Cheeeese!!!!,
and see if you can spot yourself.

And finally, LADIES and GENTLEMEN, please give a big round of APPLAUSE for the actors and actresses on the show !!!
